The National Council for Childcare
The National Council for Childcare was founded in 1945 under the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress. We care orphans and children who have been removed from their families due to harassment, abused or abundant. The National Council for Childcare operates 17 child development center’s registered under the Childcare and Probation Department of Sri Lanka including a Centre / school which cares for children with disabilities (registered under the Divisional Secretariat of Mahawewa, Sri Lanka). We also operate a Vocational Training Centre in Panadura for those over 18, and is provided free of charge.
Our child development center’s provide loving care around the clock, every day of the year for children who need care, protection, love, warmth, education and company. We provide a safe haven from the cruel streets – a place to grow and be a part of a family. We have cared for over 10,000 children who are now being contributing citizens to the society both locally and abroad. We teach the children at our center’s to grow up with the right values, aspirations, actions, speech and mindfulness to ensure a good foundation for them before they depart. Currently we have past children working in both the private, government sectors and doing their own business.
.We aim our children to develop into good citizens with physical, cultural, social skills, discipline, patience, boost self-esteem, self-confidence and to increase enjoyment and fun. All our children are fed, clothed, immunized and educated over the years with the generous individuals and organizations.
All Ceylon Buddhist Congress National Council of Childcare and management committees with the assistance of our generous donors of the centers pay staff salaries, water bills, electricity bills, telephone bills, building maintenances. to keep the centers functioning.
