The mandate is to alleviate poverty, capacity building and uplift the economic  status of Buddhists throughout the country through encouragement
,education and training, technical information and guidance to Improve productivity in agriculture and on industrial and commercial activities resulting in the development of country. Lands (other than the lands allocated for housing) owned by the Congress will be used for cultivation to earn income and to maintain vocational training institutions.

The Council will also seek funds for developmental activities.
